The TASLink replay device had several unique features specifically designed with this run in mind, including the ability to connect to four different consoles at the same time. This ability was used to play back Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. Lost Levels (SMB2's Japanese release on a top loader AV Famicom with an FDS), and Super Mario Bros. 3 simultaneously. micro500 provided remote lead efforts and support for the run during the event. {{Summer Games Done Quick 2016}}: transclude one of the subpages instead of this This run was an early presentation of a game end glitch in SMB3. Kyle Orland of Ars Technica provided extensive coverage of the community response to the run. The technical details of the DPCM glitch that was used were explained in further detail in The SMB3 Input Polling Glitch by community member fuzyll. {{Summer Games Done Quick 2016}}: transclude one of the subpages instead of this This run was part of a "TASBot vs MitchFlowerPower race — (Run) TASBot plays Super Mario Bros. 1, 2 + 3" donation incentive that was met for a total of $10,024.05. The Hot Pocket meme was in reference to mitchflowerpower appearing on The Late Show earlier in the year. The run shows the romhack Super Mario in The Final Kaizo by mitchflowerpower.
